  • New issue (4/2026) of the FGF/IfM Bonn Policy Brief titled “What distinguishes academic spinoffs from other startups in Germany?” has been published

    31. August 2026

How do academic spin-offs differ from start-ups in general? Dr Natalia Gorynia-Pfeffer and Julia Schauer (both from the RKW Competence Centre) explore this question using data from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM). Their finding: there are clear differences, which are also relevant for start-up support.

The article “What distinguishes academic spinoffs from other startups in Germany?” has been published as part of the policy brief series “Entrepreneurship in Focus” by FGF and IfM Bonn.
