  • New issue (5/2025) of the FGF/IfM Bonn Policy Brief titled “Crafts entrepreneurship: A new perspective on the role of the Big Five trait conscientiousness” has been published

    14. July 2025

Craftspeople are characterised by a high degree of precision, quality and diligence in their technical work. According to research by Dr Petrik Runst (Thünen Institute) and Dr Jörg Thomä (ifh Göttingen), the character trait “conscientiousness” is therefore a good basis for starting a business in the skilled trades. They therefore recommend that this aspect should be kept in mind when offering career coaching and start-up advice.
The article “Craftsmanship and Entrepreneurship: A New Look at the Role of the Big Five Trait ‘Conscientiousness’ʺ has been published in the Policy Brief series by the Research Network Entrepreneurship, Innovation and SMEs and IfM Bonn.
